Description:
The Disarmament and International Security Committee (DISEC) has always concerned itself with global concerns regarding international security and at MUNUC XXIV, delegates of this committee will be discussing arms trading in failed states and nuclear proliferation. These topics will explore the causes and effects of both problems, while investigating diplomatic solutions among the international community. Arms trading in failed states will focus on how these quasi non-state actors acquire weapons and also whether or not the United Nations has the authority to intervene in an emergency situation. Discussion on nuclear proliferation will aim to determine the balance between a nation's sovereign right to arm and defend itself and the overall security of the global community in the face of ever-increasing numbers of WMDs.
