Description:
The First Committee of the General Assembly, DISEC, is concerned with disarmament issues and questions of international security. It consists of representatives from all the members states of the UN as well as certain observer groups. While this committee deals with international issues similar to those of the UN Security Council, it cannot dictate the actions of any nation, and instead has historically provided a forum in which issues of international security have been addressed through cooperation.
