Description:
Formed after World War II to promote economic, military, and cultural cooperation among its members, the Organization of American States includes almost all of the independent states of the Western Hemisphere. The OAS has become a key institution for diplomacy and economic policy in the Americas, and has provided a forum for the discussion of a wide range of issues from human rights to free trade.
