Socialist International (SI)

Contact: si@munuc.org
Committee Group: General Assembly Committees

Chair: Mr. Craig Johnson

Description:
The Socialist International is an organization formed in 1951 by a number of socialist, social democratic, and leftist political parties to coordinate their efforts in the furthering of common ideals and the modification or eradication of capitalism. Unlike other international bodies, the members of SI are not countries, but rather political parties, and as a result not all its members are currently the ruling parties in their particular country. While it lacks the authority to enforce any legislative agendas upon its members, SI can help provide mutually agreed upon frameworks for the furthering of socialist policies.
